Oakley Sunglasses - New Season Styles now in stock

Last year Oakley updated their fantastic range of sports sunglasses with the addition of Flak Jacket and Radar. Following the success of this Oakley have now launched some worthy additions to their sunglasses range. New sport sunglasses styles to check out online are Minutes 2.0 and Straight Jacket, and for the designer sunglasses wearer Oakley have launched Oil Rig and Conduct. Oakley has also made some worthy colourway additions to much loved Oakley sunglass styles like Gascan and Hijinx.

New XCEL sponsored team rider Bebe Durbridge takes Second in the Rip Curl Pro held at Bells Beach (Australia)

Bebe Durbridge finished second in the Rip Curl Pro held at Bells Beach Australia over the Easter period. Durbidge’s place secures him second in the ASP WCT ratings, just behind event winner and 8-time world champion Kelly Slater! After finishing fifth in the 2007 tour Durbidge continues to solidify his position as a contender for the 2008 world title.

"We're so excited for Bede and are stoked to be supporting him on his quest for the world title," says Xcel president Ed D'Ascoli. "Bede's incredible talent, combined with a clear focus is on his surfing, are key to results like these at Bells Beach. We're glad to welcome him to our team and to be a part of the ride."

The final heat which saw Durbidge and Slater go head to head with only half a point separting their final wave score. "I thought Bede had me, there are murmurs of Bede being a world title contender and I would say he's up to that challenge." Slater said.  "I've just been getting through heats and I've been going all the way to the end, so it's been going pretty good for me," Durbidge told the ASP in humble fashion.

Watch for Durbidge on the WCT's next top May 8 - 18 in Teahupoo, Tahiti.

Surf Station Surf Hire Centre Due to Open Next Week!

Yes you heard it here first! The Surf Station Surf Hire Centre is due to open next week! As I write Billy and Jamie are busy putting up plasterboard to deck out the new hire centre based at our real shop on the Saunton Road in Braunton, North Devon! There is a real buzz of excitement in the shop today as we prepare for this new venture.

The new surf hire centre will be offering a great selection of BIC ACS and E-Comp Surfboards for Hire. We would not let our hire surfers step out in any old wetsuit so we will be hiring XCEL Superlite 3:2 full wetsuits for the summers months and XCEL Xflex 5:4 wetsuits in the winter.

Surf Station is open from 10am to 5pm 7 days a week so you will always be able to pop in and hire a surfboard and wetsuit whenever you fancy it. If you are feeling particularly lazy we are even offering a delivery service (conditions apply).

With the power of our online shop you will be able to pre-book your surf hire online from the comfort of your own desktop. This way you can be sure to have the right surf hire equipment ready for your next surfing safari!

Skin Dog Surfboards arrive at Surf Station!

Yes folks they are finally here! A fine selection of Skin Dog Surfboards arrived at Surf Station in the dark of last night! The Skin Dog surfboard range has been developed by European professional Longboard Campion Ben Skinner with the help of one of Europe's finest shapers Matt Adams and world renowned laminator Jason Gray.

The Skin Dog Surfboard range boasts the pioneering technology CRT. Carbon Rail Technology completely changes the performance of the surfboard. The carbon parabolic frame allows the surfboard to flex in all directions. The main flex issue comes up when the surfboard turns. Under pressure the Skin Dog surfboard bends as a conventional wood stringer surfboard would. The scret being that the carbon stores more energy and has a quicker memory. This results in a much more rapid response, equalling much faster projection in and out of turns.

The Skin Dog surfboard consists of an eps core, carbon parabolic frame and an epoxy laminate all of the highest spec. This combination gives you a much tougher all round surfboard. The most noticeable is the carbon rails, obviously making the surfboard much stronger and the day to day knocks in and out of the car no longer exist.

It's on again! We have just received confirmation from the competition organisers that the Chapter Longboard Surf Classic will be running again this year. The competition is planned (surf permitting!) for Saturday 24th November 2007 on Woolacombe beach. We will update when we know more. See you down there!
